What is your business? My business started as a side project in real estate investing on my own. That led to partnering with families & professionals in the Greater Toronto Area to complete joint venture real estate transactions.

After a snowball of income properties purchased in 2016/2017 I decided to make the leap to work in the industry full-time while continuing to invest in Real Estate.
Currently, I’m a Mortgage Agent for Synergy Mortgage Group, a self-employed role that allows me to assist investors and first time home buyers leverage real estate to build wealth, while still allowing me the time to continue to grow the portfolio of property.
What made you take the leap into your project/business/entrepreneurship?
In high school I heard the concept of buying a rental property and letting someone else pay off your mortgage.
That was it – I didn’t think too deeply about it. I just decided that I would begin doing that the minute I could afford a house. I got my first job out of university, and purchased my first property, then the next, etc… I’ve never looked back.
Can you outline a basic timeline of how you got to where you are now? Compound Effect – I had countless jobs, degrees, & read a ton of books. I try to always focus on pushing forward, whether it’s going to see more properties, exploring new markets, or even going to the gym when you know you’ll have a brutal workout. You won’t lose by moving forward.
What is one of your biggest learning moments?
Sometimes I’m a little too eager to move forward, even with a lack of information. That’s hurt and helped me at different times. I learn from every real estate transaction & do a lot of reflecting. I can’t cite one learning moment, but I’ve always found the wins are better case studies for learning than the losses.
What are some of your favourite resources that you suggest to other ambitious adult?
Drown yourself in Personal Development – Re-read impactful books over and over. It’s working out for your brain & it’s a must for everyone.
Any final thoughts?
1. Get started now and always place and emphasize on building up your finances. This will allow you to take the leaps & not resort to plan B.
2. “Feel good right now” – A good quote I try to live by. Don’t wait for the promotion or the next sale to start feeling good.

My final thoughts:
It was interesting to discuss finance philosophies with Jacob and this is something I urge more people- especially millennials to do. Talking about finance and money should not be taboo… it’s a way to learn and grow and it can be done constructively.
